HEY MAN!

Today was no different. Our morning began early.  Fridays bring two men for their special time with William and if I’m “lucky,” I get to sleep in. I did.
I also managed to slip in and crank up the coffee pot so that Joe could join us later. I sat down in an adjacent chair so I could wait for the coffee and head on back to the master bedroom when it was ready. Sitting with them afforded me the opportunity to listen in as Bill talked. Their discussion time came to a close and we said our goodbyes.
Our morning devotion took a more visual route today as you will see after watching the video we have included. Sarah Young’s “Jesus Calling” devotional today stimulated a dialogue with William that begged to be heard by more ears than mine. He doesn’t just tell me his stories, he re-lives them. I was intrigued by watching his animation and drawn further into the story by his dramatization and the voices he used as he mimicked his caller. He finished the story about the suicide call to the prayer line and I asked him if I could video tape his re-telling of the story.
“Hey, man” found Peace on the other end of the phone call that day when he reached out for someone to hear his plea. Peace is a treasure, the Pearl of Great Price. Peace is a great part of the treasure we hold in our earthen vessel as Paul describes in 2 Corinthians 4:6-11. This treasure is “surpassing greatness, the power of God, not from ourselves.” It is by His Grace that we have the opportunities to know Jesus personally and with the power of the Holy Spirit to live this life here in our earthly vessel.
“We (have been), are now (and will be again), afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body (ours) the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” Vs. 8-11 (parentheses added are mine)
Jesus purchased Salvation for us. Redemption. Grace. Mercy. He purchased our righteousness, peace, and joy. He purchased this “treasure of treasures” with the “currency of heaven,” His blood. And yes, salvation is a free gift to receive but the exchange requires a few Kingdom assets from us as we mature in our walk with Him. Trust, faith, belief, gratitude, availability and obedience are a few “Coins of the Realm.” (Not to be confused with works) God bless you as you become ALIVE in Him today.
